PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for decomposing nitrogen oxide having high activity and long life by constituting the catalyst of a metal compound of nickel or iron being a main catalytic component, a silver compound being a cocatalyst component and an inorg. heat-resistant compound of aluminum or silicon being a carrier component. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst consists of a metal compound of nickel, iron or cobalt being a main catalytic component, a silver compound being a cocatalyst component and an inorg. heat-resistant compound of aluminum, silicon or manganese becoming a carrier component. When the exhaust gas from a car or cogeneration is brought into contact with this catalyst, the high NOx decomposing activity of the catalyst is kept for a long period of time without receiving the effect of O2 or SOx through O2 or SOx is contained in high concn. |
