PURPOSE:To rapidly impart hydrophilic property to the surface of a plastic body to be treated nd to extend the persistence of said hydrophilic property by using a gas composition substantially composed only of inert gas. CONSTITUTION:Gas is introduced into a plasma reaction apparatus having opposed electrodes 1, 2 at least one of which composed of a dielectric coated electrode having a solid dielectric 3 (e.g., glass) arranged to the surface thereof from an inflow port 5 and subjected to plasma excitation under atmospheric pressure to apply surface treatment to the object 4 to be treated (e.g., heat- shrinkable polypropylene film) positioned between the opposed electrodes 1, 2. The gas to be introduced in composed of a gas composition substantially composed of argon and helium and/or acetone. Surface treatment can continuously and rapidly be carried out using this extremely simplified apparatus. For example, in the case of an object to be treated composed of hydrophobic plastics, excellent hydrophilic property can be easily imparted to the surface thereof and the persistence of said hydrophilic property are extended. |
