The invention relates to a safety device for motorised roller shutters. The program of the logic processing unit comprises additional instructions (64, 65) for calculating the mean value of the last n speed sample values stored in memory, in the learning mode and in the use mode. In the use mode, this mean value is compared to the mean value of the last n values of the samples of signal calculated in the learning mode in order to activate the sub-program for stopping the motor and raising the shutter when the difference between the values compared is greater than a given value. This improvement enables the detection of thin obstacles starting from the bottom stop point. <IMAGE>
