PURPOSE:To obtain an easy-to-manufacture and qualitatively stable thermal transfer recording medium which demonstrates an excellent travelling function during printing by providing a smoothly travelling and qualitatively improved layer consisting of ester polyacryrate and urethane-modified linear polyester resin on the surface of base where it comes in contact with a recording head. CONSTITUTION:A smoothly travelling layer is a film with a thickness of 0.1 to 0.6mum consisting of ester polyacrylate as a main component and urethane-modfied linear polyester resin. Therefore, the ester polyacrylate shows a significantly high effect on the improvement of travelling fuction, if a glass transition temperature is comparatively low. In addition, the ester polyacrylate enables the medium to be easily fabricated and proves to be effective against a change in adhesion or a curling phenomenon after fabrication. The combined use of an adhesion improver which does not affect these characteristics adversely is required so that the urethane-modified polyester resin is added for this purpose. It is necessary to blend the ester polyacry-late and the urethane-modified linear polyester resin at a higher dosage for the former than for the latter. If the dosage for the latter is higher, an abnormality occurs during printing due to a deteriorated resistance against heat. Therefore, the recommended blending ratio is 95 to 65% for the former. |
