The invention concerns a process for dissolving gelatine continuously in a solvent and consists of the following steps: a) gelatine powder is introduced, together with the solvent, into the feed zone of an extruder, in particular a screw-feed extruder, b) the gelatine and solvent are mixed together in the extruder by the action of shear forces at high temperature and pressure, thus giving a liquid gelatine solution, c) the liquid solution is delivered from the extruder through a nozzle.
