The electroacoustic converter comprises a piezoelectric vibrator with a sound head on the radiation side, together with a cylindrical housing enclosing the vibrator. The external dia. of the head is appreciably less than that of the housing. The space between is sealed by a ring of material giving a low deg. of sound radiation, and which fills most of it. The ring is fixed to the housing and sealed to the head. The head and housing can be enclosed in a layer of vulcanised indiarubber. The ring can be of hard plastic, or glass-fibre-reinforced epoxy resin, polyester resin or polycarbonate. USE/ADVANTAGE - For underwater use, heads of different dias. can be installed in the same housing of a Sonar base. (5pp Dwg.No.1/2)
