The disconnection system allows selective disconnection of a given line section (200) in response to an overcurrent or a short-circuit current using a direction dependant blocking system. Each 2 adjacent line sections (200) have a common control device (54) with information transfer between the successive control devices (S4, S5). Each control device (S1...S6) has a current transducer (4) with a reference direction (R) providing a blocking signal (BS) across its input and output in response to an overcurrent. The short-circuit direction is compared with the reference direction (K), with disconnection of the corresponding line section (200) from the network when the blocking signal (BS) remains.
