PURPOSE:To attain an effective test of an UP transmission channel of a subscriber's private network in an on-line state by transmitting a test cell to the UP transmission channel of the network having a loop-shaped bus constitution after multiplexing the test cell and comparing a transmitted test signal with an untransmitted test signal after separating the test cell from the UP transmission channel. CONSTITUTION:A subscriber's private network consists of a loop-shaped bus, and a test cell including a test signal and an identifier showing the identity of a test cell is produced. Then a transmission signal that multiplexed the test cell is sent to an UP transmission signal that multiplexed the test cell is sent to an up transmission channel of the network. Meanwhile the test cell is detected out of the transmission signal of the UP transmission channel and a test signal is separated from the test cell. This separated test signal is compared with the test signal of a test cell generating means 19. Thus the subscriber's private network can be effectively tested without interrupting a normal communication state.
