The damping system comprises a central oscillation system (6) supported within the interior (5) of the loudspeaker housing (1) for converting the sound waves received directly from the loudspeaker (4) and reflected from the inside walls of the housing into mechanical oscillations. Pref. the oscillation system (6) has a resilient support (7) incorporating attached or embedded metal elements (9), pref. arranged in a regular grid. The support (7) may be provided by a planar foam mat. ADVANTAGE - Prevents standing waves within loudspeaker housing.
