<p>Lipid bilayer vesicles are formed by combining a micelle-forming anionic or zwitterionic surfactant with either (i) a single-aliphatic chain lipid, or (ii) cholesterol or a cholesterol analogue or derivative, at a weight ratio of between about 1:2 and 2:1. The vesicles can be prepared without the use of organic solvents, and generally employ relatively inexpensive components.</p> |
