PURPOSE:To realize the excellent reproducibility of selectivity and response to a phosphate ion by constituting an ion responsive substance of a nickel mixed coordination complex containing chain or cyclic diamine and a beta- diketonate ion as ligands. CONSTITUTION:An ion responsive substance is constituted of a nickel mixed coordination complex containing chain or cyclic diamine and a beta-diketonate ion as ligands and used in the form of an ion responsive membrane and an ion sensor 1 wherein the ion responsive film 3 is formed on the surface of an electrode 2 is prepared. This sensor 1 and a reference electrode 4 are immersed in the phosphate ion-containing solution 6 within a container 5 and the potential of the sensor 1 to the electrode 4 is measured by a potentiometer 7. When the responsive membrane 3 comes into contact with the solution 6, a phosphate ion enters coordination zone to be coordinated with Ni by two O-atoms and the complex is converted to an eight-plane type six-coordination structure from a plane type four-coordination structure and equilibrium relation is formed between both structures. Therefore, this complex is considered to function as the responsive substance of a phosphate ion. |
