PURPOSE:To obtain a playback signal having high quality for luminance signal and chroma signal with small-sized and lightweight constitution, by converting the chroma signal into a low frequency conversion arrier chrominance signal and recording it in the head different from a luminance signal through synthesizing the same with a single carrier wave. CONSTITUTION:A three-primary color signal from a camera 1 is converted into a luminance signal and a chroma signal at a matrix circuit 3. Further, the luminance signal is recorded by a head 5 via a frequency modulator 4. Further, the chroma signal is modulated at a balanced modulator 9 by a subcarrier wave chrominance signal and is converted to the low frequencies at a frequency converter 12 and added at an adder 13 together with a single carrier wave from a frequency converter 11 and recorded by a head 14. Further, a signal reproduced from the head 14 at playback is separated into a low frequency conversion carrier chrominance signal and a single carrier wave at filters 16, 17, and the difference of the two is taken at a frequency converter 20 to obtain the original carrier chrominance signal and a video signal is obtained by adding it with a luminance signal from the head 5 at an adder 8. |
