The apparatus comprises an oven (1), through which the covering (13) to be heated is continuously conveyed, and a heating element (11), controlled by a coating temperature sensor, as well as a compressor (10) for circulating the air. Provided above and below the covering (13), running transversely to the conveying direction of the latter, there are alternating feed and return ducts (5 and 7) with outlet and inlet openings (9), through which the heated air is conveyed in a closed circulation through the compressor (10) and the heating element during the conveyance of the covering. When covering conveyance is interrupted, inner and outer dampers (17, 19) close the normal circulation conveyance for such a short time that the feed ducts (5) are switched off. For a short time, the air can be blown out of the oven (1) until a set temperature is reached, in order to prevent overheating. <IMAGE> |
