PURPOSE:To attain sophisticated function by means of wavelength multiplex by adjusting at least one operating wavelength of a transmission reception means based on plural transmission means sending a signal light and a reference wavelength light. CONSTITUTION:Carrier injection type multi-electrode DFB (distribution feedback type) is adopted properly for the structure of 1st, 2nd semiconductor optical filters 23a, 23b and 1st, 2nd semiconductor lasers LD 25a, 25b. That is, the light intensity and its wavelength of the LD are controlled by adjusting independently the current injection quantity or a voltage application quantity to electrodes 31-33 respectively and the gain and the pass band of the filters 23a, 23b are controlled by adjusting independently the current injection quantity or a voltage application quantity to each electrode similarly respectively. Moreover, the relation between a control signal (current or voltage) and a sweep wavelength (operating wavelength) is set almost linearly. Thus, a reference light being a reference is always sent, a temperature control means is basically to be provided to a reference station only and the sophisticated function wavelength multiplex optical communication system is formed very inexpensively. |
