The unpleasant noise known as brake chatter associated with the use of oil-immersed disc brakes fitted to heavy machinery such as tractors can be reduced by the incorporation in the formulated lubricating oil composition in which the disc brakes are immersed 0.1-5% by wt. of a borated fatty acid ester of glycerol, such as a borated glycerol oleate. |
