<p>An improved apparatus for sequentially loading sheet material articles into a plurality of compartments (36,38,40,42) in a plurality of containers (24) includes a loader assembly (28) which is disposed at a loading station (34). An infeed shuttle assembly (50) moves an empty container to a carriage (52) disposed at the loading station (34). The carriage (52) is movable back and forth along a linear path to sequentially position compartments of the empty container (24) at the loading station (34). In addition, the carriage (52) is operable to rotate the container (24) about a vertical axis to at least partially position another compartment at the loading station. When the compartments (36,38,40,42) of the container (24) have been loaded with sheet material articles (22), an outfeed shuttle assembly (54) engages the loaded container (24) and moves it away from the carriage (52). <IMAGE></p> |
