PURPOSE:To attain excellent convenience and to obtain a high utilizing efficiency by allowing an automatic exchange to discriminate the state of a facsimile terminal equipment when an incoming call request comes and transferring the incoming call to a mail equipment automatically when the facsimile terminal equipment is busy or does not reply the call. CONSTITUTION:A central processing unit 12 stores the content for busy/non-reply transfer to each of facsimile terminal equipment extension memories 40,41,42 set in a memory device 13. At first, a terminal facsimile equipment FAX100 being a caller makes dialing to a terminal facsimile equipment FAX200 being a transmission destination. In this case, the central processing unit 12 checks the extension state of the FAX2OO and makes a calling in the idle state and references the extension memory 41 of the FAX200 set in the memory device 13 to check a transfer destination in the busy/non-reply state and reads a MAIL number of the transfer destination in the case of the registration at the busy/ non-reply state and transfers the incoming call to a relevant mail box to make a call.
