PURPOSE:To improve the focus accuracy by initializing an automatic focus matching circuit with a control signal so as to control focus matching when a focal distance is changed from the position of a wide angle mode to a telescopic mode. CONSTITUTION:When zooming is applied toward the telescopic position in the focusing state at a position toward the wide angle position, a depth of field is smaller as the zooming operation and margin for the focus matching is being decreased. In this case, an optical image in the sufficient focusing state is not obtained on an image sensor at the telescopic position without further adjustment of a focus system lens 1 from the focusing state at the wide angle position. A zooming control circuit 6 outputs a control signal B representing the control state of zooming from the wide angle position toward the telescopic position and an automatic focus matching circuit 7a is initialized by the control signal B to control the focusing. Thus, out of focus due to the effect of the zooming is avoided and the focusing with high focus accuracy always stable is attained. |
