PURPOSE:To obtain an overspeed preventer which can prevent overspeed of a traveling truck positively by providing a speed detecting means and a control means for the traveling truck. CONSTITUTION:A traveling truck 3 is supported movably on a monorail 1. A speed sensor 20 for detecting the traveling speed of the traveling truck 3 is fixed to the side of driving wheel 6 at the upper part of the traveling truck 3. When the traveling truck 3 is traveling, the speed sensor 20 continuously detects the traveling speed of the traveling vehicle 3 and the detected speed is compared with a preset value. If the former is lower, no control signal is provided from a controller 30 to a brake 7 and the traveling truck 3 continues traveling. When the traveling speed exceeds the preset value, the brake 7 is driven to stop the traveling truck 3 automatically thereby preventing overspeed thereof positively. |
