CONSTITUTION:At the time of the recording, the data is written by way of trial by irradiating the prescribed area 104 on the optical recording medium 1 with a laser beam from a laser light source. Subsequently, the data written by way of trial is reproduced, and the magnitude, etc., of the laser drive current to drive a laser at the time of the recording of the principal data is set on the basis of this regenerative signal. Next, the laser light source is driven by this set laser drive current, and an original data recording area 103 on the optical recording medium 1 is irradiated with the laser beam whose power, etc., is controlled on the basis of this, and the principal data is written.
