PURPOSE:To allow the handling of many and diversified kinds of type faces with a smaller font data quantity by generating the pattern defined by a character font defining means by using the pen pattern assigned by the pen index information and typeface information corresponding to every segment. CONSTITUTION:The character font data is constituted of the group of the segment information common to the respective typefaces to define the basic character shapes intrinsic to respective characters and the group of the pen patterns for applying sizes, etc., to the respective segments and plotting the segments. The patterns are formed by using the pen patterns corresponding to the segments and the requested type faces for every segment indicated by respective pieces of the segment information defining the basic character shapes of the characters to be plotted. The character fonts of many and diversified kinds of the characters which are the same in the basic character shapes are formed simply by changing the pen patterns and the font data quantity is reduced. |
