PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the title compound useful as a drug and an intermediate for producing drugs by reacting a benzene derivative with a methylpiperidionopropionyl halide hydrohalide in the presence of Lewis acid in a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent. CONSTITUTION:A benzene derivative (e.g. ethylbenzene) shown by formula I (R is lower alkyl) is reacted with a 2-methyl-3-piperidionobropionyl halide hydrohalide shown by formula II (X and Y are halogen) in the presence of Lewis acid (preferably aluminum chloride or aluminum bromide) in a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent to give the objective compound shown by formula III. |
