PURPOSE:To obtain a high density image rich in stability by using a specific cyan dye having good heat resistance and heat diffusibility and chelated at the time of the formation of an image. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording material is formed by providing a layer containing a dye represented by formula I on a support. In the formula I, X is an atomic group forming an aromatic ring, Y is -S-, -SO2- or -SO2O-, G is a chelatable group, R<1> is a cycloalkyl group or an aralkyl group and R<2> and R<3> are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group. This dye is a cyane dye having heat diffusibility and heat resistance and rich in solvent solubility and can react with a metal ion at the time of the formation of an image to be chelated and, since a cyan dye L is used as the dye, a high density image rich in stability can be efficiently obtained. |
