PURPOSE:To obtain the reference electrode which does not require maintenance and does not contaminate a measuring liquid in spite of long-term continuous measurement by forming an ion selective electrode lowered in responsiveness with a change in selectivity to ions and ion activity. CONSTITUTION:The reference electrode 1 is constituted by forming a silver/ silver chloride electrode 3 on an insulating base body 2 consisting of alumina, etc. A lead wire 4 is connected to the silver/silver chloride electrode and the electrode is connected electrically to an external circuit. A liquid film 5 consisting of PVC, silicone rubber, etc., is formed on the silver/silver chloride electrode. An anion expelling agent, such as tetraquis(p-chryryphenyl) potassium borate, is dispersed together with cyclic ether and cyclic polyamine responsive with specific ions as an ion sensitive material into the liquid film. The concn. of the expelling agent is set higher than the concn. used with ordinary ion selective electrodes. The ion selectivity and the sensitivity, i.e. nernst responsiveness as the ion selective electrode are lowered by increasing the concn. of the ion expelling agent in such a manner. A protective layer 6 consisting of an epoxy resin, etc., is formed in the joint part between the silver/silver chloride electrode 3 and lead wire 4 on the base body 2. |
