The fuel filling nozzle has discharge tube (7) is fitted to the handle (3) through a surrounding vapour extraction sleeve (14). When inserted in the vehicle tank opening a seal (6) which forms part of a ball jointed cup on the nozzle handle provides an airtight seal against the vehicle fuel opening. The seal is springloaded by a weak coil spring (4) in the handle to ensure full contact is maintained during filling. The fuel vapour expiration of the vehicle tank is extracted through the sleeve (14). The device is intended to be used such that the rate of filling equals the rate of extraction to avoid false suction of a ambient air.
