PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound in high purity by providing the same alcoholic residues of a raw material and a catalyst in reacting methyl or ethyl (meth)acrylate with a 3-20C alcohol in the presence of a tetraalkyl titanate catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Methyl or ethyl(meth)acrylate is reacted with a 3-20C alcohol expressed by the formula ROH (R is alcoholic residue), preferably cylohexanol, benzyl alcohol, phenylethanol, methoxyethanol, ethoxyethanol, N,N- dimethylaminoethanol, N,N-diethylaminoethanol and/or 2-cyanoethanol in the presence of a tetraalkyl titanate, expressed by the formula Ti(OR)4 and having the same alcoholic residue (R) as that of the aforementioned compound to afford the subject compound useful in various fields of resins, coatings, adhesives, industrial materials, etc., in high purity and quality. |
