PURPOSE:To improve the purification performance of the catalyst for exhaust gas by coating a specified carrier surface with a soln. containing a specified amt. of compd. containing group IIa elements in the periodic table, and drying the coating film to form a poisoning preventive layer. CONSTITUTION:A soln. containing a compd. 13 containing group IIa elements is applied on the surface of a specified carrier 11 and dried to form a poisoning preventive layer. The amt. of the compd. 13 in the soln. in 2-15wt.% in terms of the group IIa elements. As for the carrier to be coated with the poisoning preventive layer, pellet type ceramic carrier, monolith type ceramic carrier, pellet type metal carrier, monolith type metal carrier or a metal catalyst carrier is used. The group IIa elements are preferably Ca and Mg in order to obtain the preventive effect against Si-poisoning. Thereby, purification performance for exhaust gas can be improved. |
