PURPOSE:To extremely enhance resolving power and to make gradation recording possible by forming a thermal recording material by providing a recording layer containing a polymer changing in hue by heat and having iodine adsorbed thereon on a support. CONSTITUTION:As a polymer to be impregnated with iodine, amylose, inulin, cellulose, nylon, polyvinyl alcohol and a copolymer thereof or agar can be designated. A solution of said polymer is applied to a support by spin coating, casting or dipping and subsequently dried to form a polymer film which is, in turn, dipped in an aqueous iodine solution and subsequently washed with an aqueous boric acid solution to obtain a thermal recording material. The thickness of the recording layer of the recording material is 0.1-200mum, pref., 0.5-100mum. As the support of the recording material, a known material such as paper, cloth, a nonwoven fabric, a plastic film, glass or metal is designated. |
