Recording/reproducing circuits for toll road tickets

A toll road ticket 10A has a mark 12 indicating the magnetic recording density; this mark is detected, 15,17, and a magnetic record demodulating circuit 19, 20 is selected in accordance with the result of detection. An increase in the recording capacity of a ticket is possible by reading data at one density and writing new data at a higher density; data may be read from one track and written on two parallel tracks. Data may be selectively road and written in frequency modulation or modified frequency modulation form. In a toll receiving system of a toll road, coexistence of tickets adopting different magnetic recording densities or recording systems is made possible.
