PURPOSE:To ensure a wide variable range for a vibration characteristic so as to surely obtain a vibration damping effect by providing a gas reserving section for applying a pressure, adjacent to at least a pair of electrodes fixed to a damper casing in an electroviscous fluid reserving section. CONSTITUTION:When a voltage is applied to electrodes 4, the viscosity of electroviscous fluid ERF between the electrodes 4 increases so as to decrease the degree of movement relative to a vibration system. Accordingly, the actual mass of a dynamic damper, which can vibrate by way of a spring element, relative to the vibration system, decreased correspondingly. It is natural that the electroviscous fluid ERF becomes movable, relative to the vibration system so as to the actual mass of the dynamic damper increases if no voltage is applied to the electrodes 4. Further, since a gas reserving section is present adjacent to the electroviscous fluid ERF, the spring constant of the damper can be changed by adjusting the pressure of gas. With this arrangement in which the mass M and the spring constant K are variable, it is possible to change the vibration characteristic over a wide range. |
