PURPOSE:To smoothly and rapidly engage and disengage a friction clutch and to eliminate the necessity of a torque isolating bearing by incorporating a return spring for urging a pressing member in a direction in which the friction clutch is disengaged, between a planetary gear and the pressing member. CONSTITUTION:When an electromagnet 97 is denergized, a pressing member 69 is returned rightward by the urging force of a Belleville spring 71 so that a differential mechanism 37 falls in a differential free condition. Thus, the pressing member 69, a rod 41, a plate 58 and the Belleville spring 71 are integrally rotated together with the right side one of carriers 49 of the same type, and further, a main clutch 55 is smoothly engaged and disengaged so that the differential limiting force of the differential mechanism 37 can be smoothly adjusted since the clutch is disposed outside of a drive power transmission path. Further, in such a condition that a torque is applied to a spline 112 on a right boss 33, the resistance between the boss 33 and an axle is large so that the boss 33 can hardly moved left and right, but with the provision of the pressing member 69, the carrier 49 has not to be moved, thereby it is possible to engaged and disengage the main clutch 55 without increasing the thrust force.
