Nappy of the type which comprises a casing formed by a permeable layer which is applied to the body of the user and an opposite, impermeable layer, characterized in that the soft, permeable layer 1 consists of a central lining, which receives liquids and faeces, and of two projecting longitudinal bands which are juxtaposed and joined to projecting and strong bands 2 so as to form strips 4. The bands 2 have lateral extensions 2a joined to the margins of the impermeable layer. The ends 4a of the strips 4 are joined to the layer 1 by means of an adhesive substance or by means of a heat-welding process. Between the said projecting bands of the said central lining and the projecting bands 2 there are pre-stretched elasticated threads 3.
