PURPOSE:To display the envelope of beam tracks in a cyclotron to support the setting of adjusting parameters by expressing a preset state of incoming beam, calculating the spread width of the incoming beam, and determining the envelope of the beam tracks. CONSTITUTION:In an arithmetic unit 12, the state of individual incoming particles is defined in accordance with the state of beams obtained from an incoming beam measuring sensor 14 as a vector X=(x,theta, y, phi, l, delta)T in six- dimensional phase space depending on the positions and the traveling directions of the particles in a three-dimensional space. In addition, the state of the beams as a group of particles represents the probability distribution width of each element of the vector X, witch is expressed as a hyper-elliptic body taken up in the six-dimensional phase space, and so an ellipse showing the existing area of the beams is obtained to determine the spread width of the incoming beams. Then, the spread width of the beams at terminals in respective sections is connected to determine and display the envelope of beam tracks. In accordance with the display, adjusting parameters are finely adjusted to allow the incoming beams to be easily in an optimum state.
