The electrical installation switch or plug socket has a housing fitted with a hinged cover acted on by a resulting spring and held closed by a locking catch (26) operated via an inserted lock key. The locking catch (26) is acted on by a spring (27) biasing it into the closed position. A nose (28) at the free end of the locking catch has an angled edge (30) engaging a closure edge (32). - The angled edge slides over the closure edge when the key is operated to release the cover.
