The chair has a backrest (13) which can be adjusted for angular position relative to the seat. The adjustment mechanism is actuated by a knob (40) which rotates a toothed wheel which engages a toothed belt. The toothed belt drives a second toothed wheel which is mounted on a shaft. This shaft has an integrally formed collar which has a conical external surface. This conical surface engages the conical bore of a gear wheel with external teeth which engage the teeth of an internally toothed gear which is rigidly fixed to the backrest. There is sufficient radial clearance between the two gearwheels to accommodate the eccentricity of the eccentric shaft. USE - Chair with adjustable backrest. @(8pp Dwg.No. 1,2a,2b/7)
