Container administering barium sulphate suspension and air

A container for simultaneous admin. of BaSO4 suspension and air in double-contrast X-ray examination of the upper digestive tract is beaker-shaped and has an airtight cover to which a cylindrical air chamber is connected, with a circular central part of the cover forming the chamber top wall and the cover having an inlet to the chamber from the outside. A projecting mouthpiece of elliptical cross-section is tapered towards it souter end and divided into two parallel ducts, a large communicating with the container interior for flow of suspension and a smaller communicating with the air chamber. The larger duct is in the part of the mouthpiece wichich contacts the patient's lower lip. There is pref. a transverse rib externally around the mouthpiece to indicate where the patient's lips must be placed.
