Hydraulic control for cone pulley flange - has two pressure chambers with cylinder and piston

The hydraulic control for the movable flange (4) of a cone pulley (3) of a variable-ratio gear has two axially displaced annular pressure-chambers (9,17). The first chamber (9) is formed by the cone pulley (3) flange (4), and by a cylinder (7) joined to the flange (4) outer periphery, and by a first fixed wall (8) facing the flange (4). The second pressure chamber (17) is formed by a second fixed wall (14) and by an axially movable piston (10) acting upon the cylinder (7) end. The first fixed wall (8) facing the cylinder (7), and the piston (10) facing the first (8) and second (14) fixed wall tilting towards the flange (4), are sealed. The piston (10) is joined to an outward-pointing coaxial cylinder piece (11) sliding on the second fixed wall (14). USE/ADVANTAGE - The radial size of the second pressure chamber can be altered without more than three seal points being necessary.
