The video cassette recording camera has a cam disc (9) with a spiral groove (8) engaged by a follower pin (11) mounted at the end of an arm (12). The arm is pivot (13) mounted and carries a connecting link on a support pin (14). The two elements move relative to each other with a spring (16) applying a load. As the cam disc rotates the connecting link hook (15a) engages a pin (17) on a link (4) that supports the tape drive contact roller (3). When the roller presses the tape against the drive pin (7) a load arm (6) maintains the contact.
