Process involves feeding a synthetic precorinted multifilament (POY) yarn at a first speed to a pin and guiding the yarn between 270 and 360 deg. (pref. 360 deg.) round the pin. The yarn is subsequently withdrawn at a second speed. The pin is unheated and has a dia. of under 10mm. The yarn is heated to 180-240 deg. C for 0.01-10 s immediately after being routed round the pin. The multifilament yarn is pref. made of polyester or poly polyamide.
