A hydrophobising and oleophobising agent contains (A)a cpd. with a perfluoroalkyl gp., and (B) a quaternisation prod. from a fatty acid amide. (A) the component has a 2-20C perfluoroalkyl gp., opt. broken by O, and linked with a reactive or polar carrier gp., or to a polymer chain. The component may by an acrylate (co)polymer with 20-45 wt.% F. (B) The component is a reaction prod. from more than 8C fatty acids (12-22C (un)satd. fatty acid), polyamines (polyalkylent polyamines), and 0.5-5 equivs. of epichlorohydrin w.r.t. amino gps. in the fatty acid amide. The polyalkylene polyamine is esp. apolyethylene polyamine mixt. obtd. by reacting dichloroethane with NH3 and sepg. the di- and opt. tri-amine portion. Quaternisation with epichlorohydrin may be in an aq. medium.
