The heart pacemaker has a switch stage (12) for switching the pacemaker from an auricular control mode to a ventricle inhibit mode. The switching over to the auricular control mode by the switch stage (12) is delayed for a given internal after the last ventricle stimulation pulse. Pref. the switch stage (12) has a counter (13) for the P waves to allow the mode switch-over to be effected upon detection of the second P-wave after the ventricle stimulation pulse. The pulses of the ventricle output stage (3) and the ventricle detector (4) are pref. coupled to a bistable stage (6) controlling logic gates (7,8) for the switch stage (12). Each logic gate has a second input coupled to the output of an or gate (9) controlled by the output stage (10) and the detector (11) for the P-waves.
