The diesel engine (1) connected by clutch (3) to the manual gearbox (4) is fed by a fuel pump (2) operated by a lever (8) with linkage (10) through a single-acting pneumatic cylinder (11) to the accelerator pedal (9). With the gearbox (4) in neutral, the variation in length of the linkage (10) is inhibited by opening of a switch (24) in the circuit (22) supplying the solenoid (21) of the valve (20) to vent the cylinder (11). USE/ADVANTAGE- In vehicular gear-changing where lower ratio is engaged by double-declutching. Neutral position is easily recognised and exploited for resetting of transmission.
