PURPOSE:To obtain the gas sensor which has a high sensitivity at ordinary temp. by forming a reference electrode consisting of Sn+SnF2 or Au and a detecting electrode consisting of Pt, Pd or Ir on the surface of a solid electrolyte consisting of LaF3. CONSTITUTION:The plane type sensor 11 is formed with a reference electrode 15 and detecting electrode 16 which are spaced from each other on one surface side of the solid electrolyte 12. Pt wires 17 are connected to the electrode 15 and electrode 16. The single crystal of the LaF3 is used for the solid electrolyte 12 and the Sn+SnF2 or Au is used for the reference electrode 15. The Pt, Pd or Ir is used of the electrode 16. This sensor has a sufficient change in electromotive force even at ordinary temp. as a result of the experiment made on the relation between the concn. of H2S and the change in the electromotive force when the H2S is used for a detecting gas, the atm. temp. is set in a prescribed range, and the Pt Pd and Ir are used for the detecting electrode and the Sn+SnF2 is used for the reference electrode. The H2S or NH3 is detected with the high sensitivity at ordinary temp. in this way. |
