AIR PURIFYING MEMBRANE ELEMENT AND BUILDING PANEL HAVING THE SAME INCORPORATED THEREIN

PURPOSE:To purify air by utilizing oxygen generated by applying potential difference across both electrodes by arranging a membrane-shape hydrogen occluding allay and a metallic porous body on both sides of a porous insulating membrane and using the porous body as an anode and using the hydrogen occluding alloy as a cathode. CONSTITUTION:A membrane-shape hydrogen occluding alloy 3 and a metallic mesh or porous body 3 made of nickel are arranged on both sides of a porous insulating membrane 2 composed of alumina or paper impregnated with a liquid, pasty or semisolid electrolyte to be compounded with said electrolyte in a sandwich state. The metallic mesh or porous body 4 is used as an anode and the hydrogen occluding allay 3 is used as a cathode and predetermined potential difference is applied across both electrodes. As a result, this element can be simply and rationally incorporated in existing facilities without scaling up equipment and feeling concern about a reaction byproduct and the air in the space on a high pressure side can be purified.
