<p>PURPOSE:To enable the disposal of plastics by mixing the waste of used article made of plastic materials with red oxide and heating the mixture at a relatively low temperature. CONSTITUTION:A plastic waste is cut to suitable sizes. Red oxide available on the market is thinly spread on the bottom of a vessel, the cut plastic pieces are placed on the red oxide, and the vessel is gradually heated. When the temperature of the vessel rises to a level near the softening temperature of the plastic, the plastic pieces in the vessel start to be softened and shrink to round with the adhesion of the red oxide to the surface of the plastic pieces. Heating is continued so that the temperature is not much increased, and the plastic pieces are put into the vessel one after another to be softened. Since the softened and rounded plastic pieces have no adherence, they do not adhere to the wall of the vessel and are easily stirred. Thus, the plastic pieces are collected with a stirring bar and compressed to be made into one body, and this operation is continued until the whole plastic pieces are softened. In order to make the bonding between the red oxide and the plastic pieces stronger, further compression under heating is performed to promote the conversion of the plastic into solid solution, and treatment is completed in confirming the whole plastic are converted into the state of solid solution.</p> |
