The hand-gun or rifle has a semi-automatic mechanism. It comprises a breech-block (4) which rotates between its loading and firing positions. A gas driven flywheel rotates on a shaft (40) throughout reloading, and transfers kinetic energy to the breech-block (4) during parts of the reloading cycle. An arrangement with no recuperator spring may also be used. USE/ADVANTAGE - Semi-automatic rifle loading mechanisms. Rotating the breech-block by a gas-driven flywheel eliminates the need for external power, and smoothes the peak loadings on the working parts, allowing high cyclical rates from a light construction.
