PURPOSE:To obtain optimum filter processing result for a picture by allowing a picture processor to apply processing to a filter characteristic changed with an original picture so as to improve the reproducibility of the picture signal. CONSTITUTION:One-picture-element delay elements 9a, 9b, 9c storing tentatively a noticed picture element data in a picture data and a picture element data in the unit of picture elements, a definite time impulse response filter including a multiplier circuit 10, and a filter coefficient storage circuit 7 being a coefficient storage means giving a coefficient to each of multiplier circuits 10. The coefficient storage means is provided with a selection means storing plural filter coefficients and selecting one of the plural filter coefficients and giving the selected coefficient to each multiplier circuit 10. Filter processing is applied in response to an input picture. Thus, the reproducibility of the picture signal and plural picture processing enable signals are used to set the filter characteristic stepwise at an edge of the input picture to prevent unnatural ridge due to filter processing. |
