PURPOSE:To permit a high quality image picture to be obtained invariably and stably by performing a dummy discharge operation during a standby period of time to receive a predetermined amount of receive data. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 20 is returned in a home position and held in a standby position awaiting an image signal in the next 64 scan line to be stored in a buffer memory 12b or 12a. At this time, an air discharge control circuit 13 detects the buffer memories 12a and 12b as not being full by a memory full signal from the buffer memories 12a and 12b. By the control of a head driving circuit 21, a recording head 20 is then made to effect a dummy discharge operation. Since the dummy discharge is being performed independently of the receiving rate of a receive signal by repeating such dummy discharge operation, a high quality image picture can be obtained stably. |
