The device takes the form of a pen with an applicable closure cap (7). The cleaning surface on the ehad of the pen extends outwards, and encloses a pump volume (4) which when the closure cap is removed automatically enlarges, and then reduces in size with the cap is re-applied. The pump volume is connected by a tube with a storage tank in the pen to receive cleaning fluid. The connecting tube is blocked in the normal state by a check valve which then only permits flow towards the pump volume when its is affected by a suction pressure as the result of enlargement of the pump volume. In the closure cap is a dirt pick-up chamber (8) which with an open pressure wall locates against the pump volume when the closure cap is applied to the pen. This causes the pump volume to be reduced. With the cap applied, the dirt pick-up chamber is in permanent connection with the atmosphere via at least one evapn aperture (10). USE - Principally for cleaning spectacle lenses, but also suitable for helmet vizors, car mirrors, binoculars, camera lenses, etc.
