The invention concerns an improvement to be introduced to machines for the continuous casting of thin flat parts (as in Fig. 1) in order to minimise the problems of containing the liquid metal due to wear caused by the mutual contact of the surfaces between the contra- rotating rollers 1 and 2 and the corresponding side plates 5 and 6. The improvement consists in the fact that in the areas of contact with the flat surfaces of the cylinders the said plates consist of ceramic material, while the remaining part consists of refractory material.
